From Nick:

The Pets -I Say Yeah (Carnival)
George Clinton was involved in making this track. I think he even
played the keyboard solo too.

Oscar Wright -Fell In Love (Hemisphere)
Also came out on another label. I think Hemisphere was the original
release, not sure. The other label was Fairmount.

Soul Circle by Spot & The Blotters was on Equal, a Michigan label. It’s the inst flip to Circulating, the same track but with vocals on. It doesn’t work well with vocals! The Spot 45 has possibly the maddest studio edit ever…!
great stuff
Spot and the Blotters played the West Michigan circuit, but may have originated from Chicago. ‘Spot’ was a travelling stand-up comedian who somehow got incorporated into the Blotters act. P.J. Spice, who recieves, I believe, a production credit on the 45 is in fact a pseudonym of Palmer James, of Al Greene/People’s Choice (wood city) fame.

I just want to say the Oscar Wright 45 is perfect.
That Oscar WrightJr. is insane . Thank You very Much.
they called themselves spot and the blotters because spot was black and the blotters white.
Ah hah!
Oscar Wright courtesy of the Rookie, other side is slightly happier and worth a spin too. Almost as good as Bob Meyer “I only get this feeling”, or matched perfectly when played back to back.
Interesting point re Palmer James / PJ Spice. How was he involved w/ Al Greene and how many records did People’s Choice do on Wood City? (I know of only one).
Who told you that George Clinton was involved in that “Pets” recording? And by the way, George can`t play keyboards. Peace & Power
Please contact me when you have the chance.
