i’m lovng the Act III track. do you have any more info?

  2. andy noble says:

Its a Memphis track from 1968. Two brothers and a sister with some session guys backing em up. The only release on their own private label. Seems to be totally unknown amongst the rare soul scene.

Hey! Great tunes. I am wondering why they are 96k/mono files? This is not a complaint. I’m just trying to figure out what you are up to. Is it to save bandwidth/storage – whatever it’s called? Are many of these discs mono recordings? They sound fine coming through my Telefunken speakers on this end. So? What’s the deal, dude? Thanks

  4. They are mono files to save space. I would rather have the files in mono & have more clarity to the sound clips. It’s a simple way to save space without sacrificing quality. They are the same as a 192k stereo file.

I loved the Johnny Cool tracks, smooth and slinky. And ‘hey james’ by 21st Generations also stood out for me in the last posting. How do you come by these great 45s?

  6. brent says:

All of these 45’s were found during a digging trip to Texas & Louisiana in April.

  7. Eric Hermeyer says:

I have the “lonliness is always around track”, but my copy is by Christine Adams. Its a Dallas, TX record. She passed away a couple years ago. She was a big Gay/Lesbian rights advocate, in fact I believe she was the president of the Dallas Gay and Lesbian association for a number of years. Fun fact to know and tell. Great tune

Havent dug up an Act III yet here in Memphis…from the label it looks like an Allied Recording record….does it say “allied” or “AR” in the run off?

  8. brent says:

I grew up in Dallas but haven’t lived there since 1990. It seems like the Christine version is more common. Interesting back story… I’ll pull out my Act III & check the run off.

  9. Dave Monroe says:

I’ve already gone through two of the Johnny Cool 45s now …

  10. Arsi from finland says:
