Soul picks from Nick Cope

Friday, March 17th, 2006

From Nick:

The Pets -I Say Yeah (Carnival)
George Clinton was involved in making this track. I think he even
played the keyboard solo too.

Oscar Wright -Fell In Love (Hemisphere)
Also came out on another label. I think Hemisphere was the original
release, not sure. The other label was Fairmount.

Soul Circle by Spot & The Blotters was on Equal, a Michigan label. It’s the inst flip to Circulating, the same track but with vocals on. It doesn’t work well with vocals! The Spot 45 has possibly the maddest studio edit ever…!

Clarence Coulter

Inspired by Beaver’s scan of the incredible Prophet & His Disciples 45, I thought it would be nice to have a few sounds from it’s writer, Clarence Coulter – including You Fool Pt1. The other soundclips are another version of You Fool, this time called Pusher by the Final Descions on Bumpshop and Ride On, on Hit Track. I guess Who Do You Think You’re Fooling is known to everyone, but we could always wack it up if someone’s keen to hear it. Any other Clarence Coulter tracks out there?

It would also be nice to complement this subject with one on Dave Hamilton’s work too.
